About Shikhar Dhawan
Shikhar Dhawan is a former Indian left-handed opening batter whose international career ran for more than a decade across Tests, ODIs and T20s. He scored a record-breaking century on Test debut against Australia in 2013, was Player of the Series at the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, and finished with more than 6,000 ODI runs as one of India's most dependable limited-overs openers. He captained Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings in the IPL and announced his retirement from international cricket in 2024.
To Indian cricket followers he is 'Gabbar', the moustache-twirling opener with a famous thigh-slap celebration. Off the field he is a gentler figure who talks openly about fatherhood, injuries, loss of form and the work of coming back.
On stage he is relaxed and warm, with easy humour, and he frames big subjects in simple words, in English, Hindi or Punjabi. He is a strong headline name for a sales kickoff, a dealer meet, a product launch or a founder's day where the organiser wants a national celebrity who can also hold a conversation about pressure and resilience. Audiences leave with a straightforward way of thinking about slumps and the discipline of starting again.
