All locationsEx-Army officer and founding CEO of NATGRID on leading through uncertainty, from battlefield to boardroom
Captain Raghu Raman is a former Indian Army officer who served in the armoured corps before moving into the private sector, including a long stint leading a corporate security services company. In 2009 he was appointed founding CEO of the National Intelligence Grid, the inter-agency intelligence-sharing platform set up after the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai.
He is the author of Everyman's War: Strategy, Security and Terrorism in India and writes regularly on leadership, risk and national security. His career gives him a rare combination: field command, corporate management and the building of a national security institution from scratch. That path, from tank regiment to intelligence platform, is unusual anywhere in the world.
On stage Raman is crisp and analytical, and he uses military case studies to explain decisions that corporate leaders face. He speaks on leadership under uncertainty, crisis and risk, national security and public-private coordination, and how battlefield frameworks translate into business. Audiences come away with a vocabulary for deciding when information is incomplete and time is short. Leadership offsites, risk and security conferences and senior management programmes book him in English or Hindi.
